How the AP Statistics score is calculated
The AP Statistics exam has two scored sections. Multiple choice is worth 50% of the score. Free response is worth 50%.
This AP Statistics score calculator converts 40 MCQ questions into 50 weighted points. It gives the five standard free-response questions a combined 37 weighted points and the investigative task 13 weighted points, because the task is weighted more heavily.
The score ranges are projections. College Board sets final cut points after scoring, and the exact cutoffs can shift each year.

What is a good AP Stats score?
A 3 is a good goal because it is passing and may count for credit at some schools. Some colleges ask for a 4 or 5 for statistics credit.
A 4 shows strong work with data and inference. A 5 is the top score and gives you the best chance at credit or placement.
How to get a 5 on AP Stats
Write conclusions in context. A correct calculation can lose credit if the conclusion does not answer the question with the right variable and population.
Practice conditions and assumptions. Know when to check random, normal, independent, expected counts, and sample size rules.
For the investigative task, slow down and read the setup. It often asks you to connect several ideas, not repeat one memorized formula.
