AP Environmental Science exam format (2026)

The 2026 AP Environmental Science exam is fully digital. You complete multiple-choice and free-response questions in Bluebook, and all answers are submitted through the testing app.

Section I has 80 multiple-choice questions in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Questions can be individual or grouped around diagrams, data tables, charts, graphs, models, or text sources.

Section II has 3 free-response questions in 1 hour and 10 minutes. The questions ask you to design an investigation, analyze an environmental problem and propose a solution, and analyze a problem with calculations. Calculators and reference materials are available for this exam.
